Match Report: U10 Boys Allenwood v Eadestown 14th June 2018

Allenwood 0-01 Eadestown 6-13

In their first match back in action since being crowned Kildare Community Games Champions, the Eadestown U10 boys travelled to Allenwood for a rescheduled spring league fixture. In a one sided affair, Eadestown ran out deserved winners.

On a very blustery evening in Allenwood, the home side, with the wind at their backs, started brightly and opened the scoring with a point in the first couple of minutes. But this was as good as it was going to get for them.
A bit of an experimental Eadestown team were slow to get into their stride, hitting a number of wides before finally getting their first score through Anna Hines. With Evan Cahill and Anna pulling the strings in midfield, Eadestown began to show their true form, scoring a string of points through Evan, Jack Madden and Anna doubling her tally. Sean Tracey then stepped up to score a well worked goal.

In a very brief cameo before halftime, Oscar Gough finished the first half with a spectacular point, drilling the ball over the bar from impressive distance with his first involvement in the game.
The second half started with Max Sargent mimicing Oscar's effort and scoring a lovely point with his first action of the game.

Oscar's short involvement in the game ended a couple of minutes later when he hammered home Eadestown's second goal. The pocket rocket was rested for the remainder of the game.
His replacement, Will Cullen, ensured that Oscar wasn't missed too much by scoring a blindingly quick hat trick.

Dan Sargent, as is his want, then surged forward to push Eadestown further ahead with a point from distance. Will, obviously enjoying himself, then added another point before Max skillfully added another couple of scores to his already impressive season's tally.
Alfie Gough was next to get in on the scoring act, popping the ball over the bar.

The game, long petered out as a contest, ended with a raft of changes on the Eadestown side. But this still didn't blunt their attacking instincts. The very impressive Evan scoring another point before Conor Morrin rounded off the evening's action with the game's final score.
Allenwood will have better days on the pitch, but they only played as well as our lads allowed them to.

Well done to both teams on a sporting contest.
